Digital Scrapbooking: It's worse than crack.
My wife is a scrapbooker. Maybe your wife, girlfriends, significant other is too. I'm sorry, I understand, I'm there too. We hear a lot about WoW widows and such, but we husbands of the scrapbookers, we have it just as rough. Garages, spare rooms, closets filled with paper scrapbooking materials. Papers, ribbons, 60 different types of scissors, embellishments, buttons, etc. Then comes the digital scrapbooking and you have Photoshop, drawing tablets, memory, external hard drives... Recently, I was ......

My first XNA game and my first XNA tutorial
I got my first XNA game and tutorial done. I am just in shock at the amount of overhead Microsoft has hidden from the game developer. I was able to get a sprite up and moving around the screen in about 10 minutes following their tutorial. Need keyboard support? No problem. Yeah, I'm really excited, I can't wait to discover more of the little goodies that XNA gives you. Off to do some more investigation into bounding box collisions. Technorati Tags: XNA ......

Pirates or Ninjas?
Well, we all know this question has been clogging up the internet tubes for years now. Which are better Pirates or Ninjas? I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm pleased to announce the issue has finally been settled. Asking my 3 year old son tonight, Pirates or Ninjas? A very firm response came back that settled it forever. "Dinosaurs." Yep, case closed. Dinosaurs it is ......

Firefox made an appearance at Microsoft's Gamefest
Knowing that we poor geeks without laptops, pdas, cell phones or other internet browsing gadgets would wither and die if we didn't have the opportunity to read all the latest posts from GeeksWithBlogs during GameFest, Microsoft was very considerate and provided some internet stations to preserve our mental well-being and hook us back up to the system. My first day there, I walked up to the terminal and laughed when I double-clicked the Internet Explorer icon. Man, it had been a while since I'd opened ......

I met E. Gauger at Microsoft Gamefest
Yep, that's my first bit of non-swag Gamefest news I want to share. I know it's not very technical, but she was the closest thing I met to a celebrity there so that elevated the coolness of it. Just who exactly is E.Gauger you ask? And I ask you, you mean you don't read Kotaku yet consider yourself a geek? Shame on you. But, just so you don't get embarrassed next time this comes up, seriously check out Kotaku, it's this geeky gaming news website which does all the work for me by collecting all gaming ......

Did you get some cool swag at Microsoft Gamefest?
Yep. I sure did. I also find it funny that's been the number on question that I've been asked since I got back. No one seems to want to hear about any of the cool technologies I saw, the interesting people I met or the diseases I picked up at the Gamefest orgy. No one. So, since swag is the number one topic of interest, it is swag you shall hear about. For me, my number one piece of swag comes in the form of trash. I however, will be hanging on to this piece of trash for life. My conference badge ......

Microsoft Gamefest 2006
Well, I'm back from Microsoft Gamefest and WOW! I'm still trying to digest all of the events and information that happened there. I have a LOT of typing to do over the next couple of weeks. I have a TON of information for work and even more information for the game development hobbyists. From my own standpoint, the conference could be summed up a little like this: Microsoft: You big game development companies suck. Everyone: *gasp*Microsoft: You guys don't take risks anymore, you don't innovate and ......

Microsoft Gamefest: You have to be kidding me
Do you recognize that image? I just got it in an email updating me with the latest itinerary! Yep, if you haven't guessed it yet I'll hit you over the head with it. In a very amazing turn of events which I can't share here ([off the record] I will say that Bill Gates is a tiger in the sack ;) [/off the record]), I'M GOING TO MICROSOFT GAMEFEST! Is there anyone else from the GWB community attending? Anyone that has attended in the past that can offer up some tips and advice for the conference? Anyone ......

Thanks to Jeff and GWB for the Game Development contest (oh yeah, and the XBox 360)
Now that my XBox is in my grubby little hands, I just wanted to take the time to say thanks for putting together such a fun contest. It was a lot of fun making Bob the Fish and I really enjoyed watching the progress and development arcs of all the other competitors. So congratulations to everyone who took the time to compete. I hope we get to have another go at a contest with each other in the future, the banter and the support was just simply wonderful and the contest a whole heckuva lot of fun! ......

Make Google your friend
I know I'm preaching to the choir here at GWB, but am I wrong in this? I mean before you ask a friend, co-worker or join a forum to post a question, don't you think it might be a good idea to do a little work on your own first to get your answer? Was I out of line here? [Edit: Well, looks like they finally deleted the thread that I was linking to so the links above no longer work. Luckily, I had taken a screenshot of the thread for just such an eventuality, so you can see what I was talking about ......
